What neglect costs

How do I bleed a radiator?

With the heat on and the radiator hot, hold a rag or cup under the small valve at the top corner, then turn the square bleed key a quarter turn counterclockwise. You will hear air hiss out; the moment steady water appears, close it. That is the whole job, about five minutes per radiator. Work from the lowest floor up in a multi-story home, and check the boiler pressure afterward, topping it back to the normal 12–15 psi if it dropped.

Why is my radiator cold at the top but hot at the bottom?

That classic split means air is trapped inside a hot-water radiator, floating above the water and blocking heat from the upper fins. Bleeding it releases the air and lets hot water fill the whole body. If the radiator is cold at the bottom instead, the problem is sludge or a stuck valve, not air.
