Why is the oven display no substitute for a thermometer?
The display only shows the temperature the oven is aiming for, not the heat actually inside the cavity. It reads the same whether the sensor is accurate or has drifted 40 degrees, so it will happily show 350°F while the walls sit at 310. Can I calibrate the oven myself or do I need a technician?
