How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Age plus symptoms. A home built before 1960 that still has its original wiring, two-prong ungrounded outlets, a fuse box, or any knob-and-tube is a strong candidate, especially before you insulate an attic or buy the place. Active warning signs push it up the list: breakers that trip often, warm or discolored outlets, flickering lights, or a burning smell. Is knob-and-tube wiring dangerous?
It can be, and age is only part of the problem.
