The clearest sign is water dripping from the bottom of the indoor head or running down the wall behind it, since a blocked line forces the pan to overflow inward. You might also notice a gurgling sound, a musty smell, or the unit flashing an error and shutting off. Outside, a healthy line drips steadily during cooling; a dry outdoor end while the unit runs hard means the water is backing up somewhere it should not.
Can I use bleach to flush a mini-split drain line?
Prefer white vinegar or a purpose-made condensate flush. Bleach clears algae, but on a mini-split it can attack the aluminum drip pan and rubber grommets and leaves harsh fumes near the indoor coil.
